Transmission
Influenza viruses are mostly aerogenic, i.e. transmitted via droplets in the air breathed out. This is also the case for A/H1N1.

Therefore, in the event of an outbreak it is advisable to wear a multi-layer, close-fitting facemask (acc. To ABAS, Decision 609).

For medical personnel, hand disinfection plays an equally important role, as the droplets can also be found on the hands, thus accelerating transmission of the virus.

For non-medical personnel handwashing is indicated after potential contact.
